• A work deposit is not necessary.  Our policy is to not charge a customer until work has been completed.  Unless your loss is due to rising water (like a hurricane) and there is a question about insurance coverage, we will not ask for a deposit to begin work.  We have worked with many clients who have previously put down a deposit with another company only to find that it will take them days to work on their home.  For us, this is an unacceptable way to care of a customer. While we will ask for a secure form of payment, we will not charge you until work has been completed.

• Honesty about their Timeline.  While there may be a handful of other customers in front of you waiting for service, a professional emergency restoration company will be honest with you about the wait and keep you updated.  They should not promise to be there in a couple of hours and then fail to show.

• If possible, shut off the source of water.  You can do this at the shutoff valve in your home or on the street.  We understand this is not possible during flooding situations, but it may be possible if your weather emergency involves a frozen pipe leaking.

• Call your insurance provider to begin your claim.

• Move children and pets to a safe, dry space.
• Be careful as you walk from wet surfaces to dry; injuries from falling on slippery surfaces is common.
• Elevate items that can be damaged by water off the ground.  Rising water is considered to be grossly contaminated. Do not lift items that are too heavy to lift safely.
• If the room is safe, mop or blot water.  Do not use your home vacuum, especially if the water is high enough to reach your electrical outlets.
• Stay away from any rooms with sagging ceilings.  This means there is a chance of ceiling collapse.
• Leave wet appliances shut off.
• Put aluminum foil or wood blocks between your wooden furniture legs and carpet.  This will help prevent the stain on your furniture to permanently transfer to your carpet.
• Remove all colored rugs from carpeted areas to prevent dye transfer.
• Gather loose items off the floor.  This will create a safer walking environment.
• If your roof or windows have been damaged, stay away from the area.
