When fire damage occurs, the most important thing is to get everyone out of the affected property and call 911.  Fires are devastating and very emotional with good reason. Our home or business property is usually the biggest investment in our life.  Our memories and well being are tied to everything inside of it. It’s important to act quickly after fire damage.  Acting quickly will help prevent secondary damage to your property and help your claim get started.  

Secondary Damage

Secondary damage is damage caused after the primary damage -- in this case, the primary damage would be a fire.  For example, secondary damage after a fire can be water damage from a rainstorm that entered the property from a damaged roof.  Oftentimes, secondary damage can even be theft if the property was left without being boarded up or supervised.

When a fire occurs, the roof is often damaged.  To prevent precipitation from entering the property, our crews will install a temporary, heavy duty and weatherproof tarp on the roof.  The tarp will remain in place until a permanent roof is approved by your insurance carrier and can be installed by our reconstruction team.  

24 Hour Live Surveillance

When the weather does not allow our crews to immediately start board up services, we will send a security guard.  Our security will watch over your property and make sure it is not vandalized.

Water Damage Repair

After firefighting efforts, properties can experience water damage on top of the fire damage.  When this water is left standing on the property, it can lead to mold in less than 48 hours. For this reason, our crews will work to extract the water as soon as possible.

Inspection

Smoke and Soot Cleanup from Clothing

This portion of the fire damage restoration is one of the first to happen.  Our technicians will inventory all clothing and textiles they find on your property.  The salvageable textiles are packed and moved to our cleaning facilities where they will be washed in a specialized machine called the Esporta Wash System.  Our Esporta wash will remove up to 99% of all smoke and soot particles from your textiles.  After they’re washed, they will be safe to wear again.

Moving Services and Storage

We will inventory everything identifiable on your property.  The contents that we can clean and restore will be packed and moved back to our cleaning facility.  After they have been sanitized, they will be placed in long-term storage until you are able to receive them again.

Contents Cleaning

Soot is acidic, which means that the longer your contents sit without being cleaned, the less chance they will be able to be restored successfully.  We understand smoke and soot, and we will work to quickly clean the contents we find in your house.

Contents are divided into two categories: salvageable and unsalvageable.  

Salvageable contents are those we know we can restore.  These items we pack and move to our cleaning facility for processing and long-term storage.  

Unsalvageable contents are those that have been permanently damaged by the fire.  We inventory these items and prepare a report of them to your adjuster, complete with suggested replacement costs.  These items are then thrown away after we receive your permission.

Demolition

When parts of your property are permanently damaged, they have to be taken out of the property and disposed of.  Demolition is always the last resort for our company; our goal is to save as much of your home or business as possible.  Restoration is a faster and less expensive process, which is why many insurance adjusters prefer restoration over construction.  Nevertheless, when restoration is not possible, our crews will demolition what is necessary and prepare it to be rebuilt by our reconstruction team.  

Property Clean Up

We will clean every affected surface of your property to make sure it is safe once again.  This will also include air duct and HVAC cleaning when necessary. Our technicians are trained and qualified to identify the many different types of smoke and soot present.  They will use the appropriate methods and chemicals to clean your property correctly.

Smoke Removal and Deodorization

To help the cleaning efforts, we will also deodorize and remove all airborne smoke particles.  This process is done through one or a combination of HEPA vacuuming, fogging, or the use of an ozone machine.

Reconstruction
